Box Sculpture!

by Norm on January 13th, 2012
Posted In: Blog

A fan of RETAIL who shall remain anonymous, has shared a picture of stockroom art that Cooper would truly be proud of!

The robot’s pelvis appears to have been “Made in China.” Coincidence? Or subversive commentary on the decline of America’s post-war manufacturing dominance?!?!?!

Or maybe the creator was just killing time until the shipment came in. Either way, I like it!

Click on the image to view it larger.

If Cooper were an award giving organization (and he SO wishes that he was) this artist would receive accolades in the form of a nice plaque – or at the very least, a framed certificate with calligraphy, and a shiny gold starburst thingy in the bottom corner.

Well done!

Limelight Wedding & Event Planning

by Norm on January 6th, 2012

Marla isn’t the only one who wants to be an entrepreneur.  Angela Wynn, significant other to my good friend Paul Gilligan (creator of the amazing “Pooch Cafe” comic strip) has started her own business as a wedding & event planning coordinator.  Her new endeavor “Limelight” is based in Canada, so if any of my readers up north are looking to get hitched or throw a big bash, check out her site!

If you’re not familiar with Pooch Cafe, you should be!  Check out Paul’s site by clicking on the strip below.

From USA Today:

Charlie Brown’s parents divorcing?

Not really, but Gil, a newspaper comic strip that made its debut Monday, goes where few family strips have gone before, exploring the trials and exasperations of an 8-year-old boy raised by a single mom.

“Yay, alternate weekends,” Gil deadpans in one panel after his deadbeat dad admits he has no plan for the day other than buying a lottery ticket.

…

You can read the rest of the article in today’s paper, or on USAToday.com.
